Koht: Pärnu-Jaagupi Rahvamaja
Osalejad: kohal:6; puudub:1

taaskirjutamiseni!

Participants: here:6; absent:1
Process: Today’s workshop
was long and intensive, but totally worth while, because today we had a visitor
to lead the workshop- Rahel Otsa, who is involved in an improv theatre group called „JAA!“ (Yes!) Improvisation was a rather new think for the participants so herewith I would like to thank you, Rahel, for sharing your experiences and knowledge
with us and conducted a great workshop with us!
Rahel joined us in the early afternoon. I started with the participants in the morning with some warm-ups and games to „tune in“. For example the "Umbrella exercise"- first, someone goes on the scene (picture), takes some kind of a position, freezes and says who s/he is. Then another person joines the picture and does the same. And also a third person goes into the picture, after what the first one to be there, says who will stay. And then, from the beginning the same thing again.
Rahel first talked about improvisation in general, then carried out some games to warm up and to get to know the participants a little better. Simultaneously with the excercises and games she introduced the methods and basics of improvisation.
We tried different improvisational games and exercises, some fun and also serious topics were brought up and the participants got a chance to learn more about both themselves and others.
For example, we played a game called "The Writer", in which the writer starts to "write" a story on the stage. Actors join the writer on stage as the writer writes them "into the picture". Followingly the writer and actors worked together in creating the story on sight.

Today’s workshop was a
good lesson for me- I got the chance to observ and learn from another
instructor. I learned a lot about both myself and the participants that I have
been working with, for a while now and I had the chance to notice some things that
I don’t see so much when I’m instructing alone.
I would bring forth some
key points from today’s workshop:
Making mistakes is a
gift; trust; getting out of the comfort zone; enthusiasm; focusing; „How
you think about things, affect how they succeed“; offering and accepting;
working together; yes! =)
Erika Lilleorg, than you
for the chance to use a wide room in our cultural centre!

Because it hasn’t been
possible to get the whole group together so far, then we agreed on some extra
meetings for this week to look back on the workshops, reflect, share some ideas about
the performance, to learn something new also and to acquaint the ones who’ve missed some workshops, with what’s been done. Yesterday we didn’t have
enough time to fixate the elements we want to use in the performance, so we met
with two of the participants to think about yesterday’s improv workshop a
little and to decide which methods we want to choose to work with further. Some
interesting exercises came forth that they want to apply in the performance.
But again, let that yet stay as a secret.
